The ECOLIB institutional repository, launched online in 2017, is the first institutional repository on environmental issues in Romania under the Open Access license (http://dspace.incdecoind.ro/ ).

At this moment, ECOLIB represents an emblem of National Research and Development Institute for Industrial Ecology – ECOIND, being indexed in the main international databases, namely: ROAR (Registry of Open Access Repository) and OpenDOAR (Directory of Open Access Repository).

The repository contains over 1600 documents with free or restricted access, representing articles, book chapters, conference presentations, abstracts of the Ph.D. theses, patents, project summaries, the collection of articles published at the International Symposium “Environment and Industry” – SIMI, articles from the Romanian Journal of Ecology & Environmental Chemistry – RJEEC.

Currently, ECOLIB has been updated to the DSpace CRIS software, which facilitates the creation of researchers’ pages, allowing the connection with the bibliometric platforms ORCID, Scopus and PUBLONS (Web of Science), in order to update indexed publications and citations. By assigning a unique code, each researcher can find on his page the his research results.

Moreover, this repository in its current form allows the creation of project pages, so that research results can be associated, as well as data related to coordination and financing.

In the next period, steps will be taken to integrate the repository into the OpenAIRE structure, a preparatory stage for inclusion in the Open Science Cloud in the Open Science Tool and Open Repositories category.
